MUSTARD TREE

F&B with Retail Area

SIDA Youth 2021, Bronze Award - Best in F&B Design

Mustard Tree is a social enterprise founded by a family, where they empower and train special needs artisans. Inspired by the vision of the Mustard Tree: “to be like a tree so that the birds (our special needs friends) can come and perch in its branches”, we came out with “Enveloping” as the design concept. Envelop means wrap up, cover, and surround completely. When you are covered, you feel safe and protected. Therefore, through this design, we hope to create a warm and comfortable space where people can feel secure.

The main feature of the space is the retail area. The tree represents Mustard Tree, while the display products represent our special needs friends. Meanwhile, the display shelves are designed to circulate the tree, which symbolizes protection. To soften up the space, we use organic forms to envelope the space. The application of neutral colors allows the products to stand out. Furthermore, the infusion of biophilic design into the space, makes you feel like being embraced by nature.
